Painting misty ocean with gouache vs watercolor

In this video, I will show you how to paint a misty ocean from a reference photo step by step tutorial in gouache and watercolor.

  • I will share with you how to observe and simplify into shapes and values
  • Way to know if the painting needs more contrast or highlights ( if you get stuck in the middle and don’t know what to do next )
  • Different techniques applied to gouache vs watercolor ( wet on wet, dry brush, lifting, etc…. )
  • Finally is my thought on the final results.

I got my reference photo from www.unplash.com. To look for copyright-free photos/images for your paintings, you can either go to unplash.com or pixabay.com. Those are my two go-to websites for reference pictures.
